Jeff Baskin is a senior credit analyst with more than 25 years of work experience, both at several commercial banks in New York City, and the Securities Valuation Office (SVO) of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
In the commercial banking sector Jeff worked primarily with middle market companies. He was instrumental in helping to establish the credit departments of two commercial banks. Jeff was also involved in the analysis of credits extended to Fortune 500 companies, and served as a workout officer when he gained experience in the US Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. His work at the NAIC was in the performance of credit reviews, primarily private placements, of investments held by insurance companies, both in the energy sector and on a global basis. His reviews were comprehensive including the analysis of loan documentation as well as financial information, some of which was also based on foreign accounting standards. In addition, Jeff also served as a Team Leader responsible for five senior analysts whose work he reviewed and signed-off.
Jeff received a B.S. from New York University and an MBA from Adelphi University, and completed Chemical Bank’s intensive credit training program. In addition, he is an adjunct lecturer in the City of New York University System. For more than 25 years he has taught introductory business classes at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, and for the past 12 years he has taught insurance classes at Baruch College.
